Hello!

Stephanie Gainer utilizes many art mediums in her three dimensional creations.  As a 3D/assemblage artist, her current work involves reconfiguring beloved childhood toys and other nostalgic items into sculptural forms that often evoke a visceral response from viewers.  Exploring the lines between disturbing and whimsical, eerie and humorous, Gainer upcycles these novelties into a magical sculpture that saves the previous found objects from the landfill.

Not long after graduating as a non-traditional student with a BA in Art from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, her focus in ceramics, she obtained a studio in Concord, North Carolina. She advanced her appreciation for clay and started using porcelain doll head molds to create quirky mugs, vessels and sculptures.  Just prior to the pandemic hitting and having to close her studio, the journey to creating “dark fairytale” like assemblages had been revealed and continues today.

Stephanie currently resides in uptown Charlotte with her supportive husband, the best golden doodle named Ziggy and is a proud mom of two artistic children who reside at opposite coasts of the U.S.  She’s happy to be an active member of the Charlotte Art League and enjoys her studio space there. Stephanie feels very fortunate to be surrounded by some of the most amazing creatives in Charlotte.
